2025 BRIDAL TRENDS
Twice a year, New York City holds Bridal Fashion Week, a time for bridal designers to showcase their up and coming collections for the following year. Jaxon James gets a chance to preview these stunning collections and get a grasp on the newest bridal trends to emerge. As we gear up for spring fashion week coming up in April, read below for our thoughts on what we expect to see this year and where we think it’s taking us!
PEPLUM
We’re seeing peplum gowns! Peplum is a short, gathered, or pleated fabric that ruffles or flares out at the waist.
These peplum elements are being incorporated into modern wedding gowns, offering brides a stylish and chic alternative to traditional silhouettes. Modern brides are looking for unique, fashionable, and flattering designs and peplum offers just that. Peplum designs help define the waist and accentuate curves, making it a great choice for brides who want to add structure or emphasize their figure.
Designer Eden Aharon demonstrates how peplum can be chic!
BASQUE WAIST REIMAGINED
A basque waist is typically a bodice with a form-fitting silhouette designed to hug the waistline, a design stemming from the 16th through 19th centuries.
The waistline extends past the natural waist and down toward the hips, creating a slightly pointed or curved effect. This design accentuates the figure and adds structure to the garment, creating a sharp, elegant silhouette.
This year we’re expecting to see this trend extend beyond a traditional basque waist and take on other shapes, textures, and details.
BOLERO
A bolero worn with a wedding gown can be a beautiful addition, providing both elegance and a bit of warmth, depending on the setting and time of year. Boleros can vary in style, from lace and chiffon to satin and even fur for winter weddings. They can also transform the look of the gown, adding a vintage or romantic vibe.
While boleros have been popular for many years, unique spins on the style continue to draw the modern bride. We’re seeing more lace toppers over gowns, offering brides an easy alternative look on their big day. We expect to see a growing collection of boleros going into 2025!
NECK SCARF
A fun new accessory trend seems to be the bridal neck scarf. A bridal neck scarf adds personality, versatility, and a dash of elegance to your wedding ensemble—making it an accessory worth considering! Most of them come across the neck and drape down the back elegantly. We love that this can create some versatility for your wedding look and you can even layer it with additional accessories like a veil or headpieces. We’re seeing sleek satin looks and also beautiful lace options like the one by Netta BenShabu below.
BRIDAL SEPARATES
We’re seeing so many fun bridal separates in our future! The ability to mix and match different tops and bottoms means brides can curate a one-of-a-kind look that reflects their individual style. From chic crop tops to elegant skirts, the possibilities are endless. This gives brides more flexibility in creating a personalized look for their special day.
This 3-piece look by Margot Bridal is trending and we expect to see more of this.
BRIDAL MINIS
A bridal mini refers to a short wedding dress, usually above the knee or just at the knee. We see the bridal mini as a continuing trend into 2025, expanding on textures, lengths, and details. A bridal mini is the perfect option for a second reception look and can leave your guests in awe with the excitement of a wardrobe change mid-wedding.
Many of our designers now carry bridal mini options and we look forward to seeing even further unique designs surface in 2025!
